# Why Does Google Keep Showing a Page I Removed From My Sitemap?

I removed an old page from my sitemap weeks ago, but it still appears in [Google results](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/305937/google-regularly-updates-its-search-algorithms-to-improve-the-quality-of-search-results-why). The page is outdated, and I’m trying to work out whether Google simply hasn’t recrawled it or whether removing it from the sitemap was never enough to make it disappear.

What should I check first: the page’s indexing status, internal links pointing to it, or the response it returns to visitors? I’d also like to know how long it’s reasonable to wait before treating this as a separate indexing issue.
