# Why Do CNC-Machined Aluminum Parts Develop Burrs Even With a Sharp Tool?

We’re getting small burrs on the edges of some CNC-machined aluminum parts, even after changing to a fresh, sharp tool. They show up most noticeably around cutouts and thin sections, and the amount varies from one batch to the next.

Which machining variables would you check first—feed rate, tool geometry, workholding, or the way the material is supported? I’m looking for practical ways to narrow down the cause before we add a deburring step to the process.
