# Can Claude Projects Keep Referring to an Older Uploaded File?

I use Claude Projects to work with a set of [reference documents](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162180/data-modeling-in-cosmos-db-when-to-embed-vs-reference-documents), and one of those files gets revised regularly. If I upload a replacement with the same filename, is there a chance a conversation in the project will still rely on details from the previous version?

I’m trying to figure out a reliable way to check which version Claude is using, especially when a project has several related documents. How do you manage updates to **Claude Project knowledge files** without mixing old and new information?
