# How Should Reddit Moderators Handle a Wave of AI-Generated Comments?

A subreddit I help moderate has started getting a lot of polished, generic comments that read as if they were generated by AI. Some are harmless but add little to the discussion; others make confident claims without sources. We don’t want to ban people just because they write neatly or use assistive tools.

How are other communities drawing a fair line between useful participation and spam? I’m especially interested in rules that can be applied consistently without relying on unreliable AI detectors.
