# What Information Can Claude Projects Carry Between Chats?

I’m trying [Claude Projects](https://answers.mindstick.com/blog/448/best-practices-for-using-projects-skills-and-artifacts-in-claude-cowork) for a long-running research task and want to understand what context is actually shared when I start a new chat inside a project. Does Claude use uploaded files and [project instructions](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/117546/how-well-do-claude-project-instructions-hold-up-in-long-chats) each time, or does it also carry details forward from earlier conversations?

I’m especially curious about the boundary between project knowledge and chat history, since I don’t want to assume it remembers something that I should add to the project instructions.
