# Why Is “System Data” Taking Up More Space on My Phone?

My phone’s storage settings show that “System Data” has grown substantially over the last few months, even though I’ve deleted old videos and cleared downloads. The number seems to change from one check to the next, and I can’t tell what it includes.

Is this category mainly temporary files and app caches, or can it contain things that shouldn’t be removed? I’m trying to figure out whether the growing **phone system storage** is normal before I start deleting apps or resetting anything.
