# Why Does a 1 TB SSD Show Less Space in Windows?

I recently installed a 1 TB SSD, but Windows reports noticeably less usable space than I expected. I know formatting and system files use some capacity, but I’m not sure how much of the difference is normal or whether I should check for an unallocated partition.

How do you distinguish the expected gap between **advertised SSD capacity** and usable space from a drive setup problem? If there are particular places in Disk Management worth checking, I’d appreciate the pointers.
