# Why Do Phones Slow Down Fast Charging Near 80 Percent?

My phone charges quickly from a low battery level, then takes noticeably longer to move from about 80% to full. I see this with the original charger, so I’m wondering whether it’s normal behavior or a sign that the battery or charging setup needs attention.

Do phone models generally reduce [charging speed](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/117661/why-does-an-evs-charging-speed-slow-down-near-80) near the top of the battery range, or can temperature, battery age, and charging settings explain the slowdown?
