# Can a Football Player Be Offside After the Goalkeeper Saves the Ball?

I’m unsure how the offside rule applies when an attacker is already beyond the last defender and the goalkeeper saves a shot. If the ball rebounds straight to that attacker, is the player offside for gaining an advantage, or does the goalkeeper’s touch reset the situation?

Does the decision change if the keeper deliberately parries the ball rather than mishandling it? I’ve seen similar-looking plays judged differently, so I’d appreciate a clear explanation of offside after a rebound.
