# Why Does Google Rewrite My Page Title in Search Results?

I wrote a specific title for a page, but Google is showing different wording in the search results. The replacement still seems related to the page, just not quite what I chose.

Does this usually happen because the title is too long, because Google thinks another heading fits the search better, or because of the wording people use in their query? I’m trying to understand what signals influence **Google title rewrites** and whether there’s a reliable way to tell if my chosen title is likely to appear as the **search result title**.
