# Why Does My Phone Lose Mobile Data When It Switches Between Wi-Fi and Cellular?

My phone sometimes shows that it has switched from Wi-Fi to cellular data, but apps act as if there’s no connection for several seconds. It happens most often when I leave home or walk between rooms where the Wi-Fi signal gets weak.

Is this handoff delay mainly caused by the router, the mobile carrier, or a setting on the phone? I’m curious whether the same issue affects calls and messages, or only internet traffic, and what details would help narrow down the cause.
