# What Should I Do When Two UPSC Prelims Options Both Seem Partly Correct?

In mock tests, I can often eliminate two options, but then I get stuck between the remaining pair. Both seem partly correct, and I end up changing my answer based on a vague feeling rather than a clear reason.

What does a sound **UPSC prelims elimination strategy** look like at that point? Do you compare each statement with the exact wording of the question, rely on known facts only, or use a rule for deciding when the risk of negative marking is too high? I’m interested in methods that work under exam-time pressure, not just hindsight after checking the answer key.
