# Why Does Perplexity Sometimes Misrepresent a Page It Cites?

I’ve noticed Perplexity cite a page that appears relevant, but the summary beside the citation makes a stronger claim than the page itself. The source may mention a possibility, for example, while the answer presents it as a confirmed fact.

Is this usually a retrieval issue, a summarization problem, or something about how the citation is attached to the [generated text](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/2283/how-to-get-values-from-dynamically-generated-text-boxes)? I’m curious whether others have found a reliable way to check **source attribution in AI search** without opening every result and reading the whole page.
