# What Made the 1918 Influenza Pandemic Spread So Widely in India?

I’ve been reading about the 1918 influenza pandemic in India and how devastating it was, but I’m unsure how historians weigh the different factors behind its spread. How much did troop movements and rail travel matter compared with local conditions such as the monsoon and access to care?
