# Why Can Plastic Parts Warp After They Leave the Mold?

We’re seeing molded plastic parts come out dimensionally correct, then develop a slight bow or twist as they cool. It doesn’t happen to every part, and the amount of distortion seems to vary across a production run.

Could uneven cooling or internal stress from the molding process explain this, or should we be looking at the material, mold temperature, or part geometry first? I’m interested in how manufacturers distinguish a process issue from a design issue when investigating **plastic part warping after molding**.
