# Why Does Perplexity Cite Different Sources for the Same Search?

I tried the same question in Perplexity a few times and got answers that were broadly similar, but the cited pages changed. Some sources were reputable publications, while others were pages I hadn’t seen before.

Does this happen because the system searches the web again each time, or can small changes in wording shift which pages it uses? I’m especially curious about how to judge **source selection in AI search** when I need to verify a claim rather than just get a quick overview.
