# Why Are Search Console Clicks Higher Than Google Organic Sessions in GA4?

For the same calendar month, Google Search Console reports about 12,000 web search clicks, while GA4 shows roughly 8,000 sessions with the session source/medium set to **google / organic**. Both properties cover the same website.

## What should I compare before calling this a tracking problem?

I realise clicks and sessions are different measurements. What I’m struggling with is how to investigate the gap without assuming that every missing session represents a broken analytics tag.

- How should I align date boundaries and landing-page URLs between the reports?
- Could consent choices or blocked analytics scripts explain a substantial difference?
- Can repeated search clicks legitimately belong to one GA4 session?

For a **Search Console and GA4 comparison**, which checks would help separate expected measurement differences from an implementation issue? I’d rather test specific pages and conditions than rely on a supposed “normal” percentage gap.
