# Can I Recover My X Authenticator Access While I’m Still Logged In on One Device?

I replaced my phone without transferring the authenticator app I used for X. I know my password and can access my account email, but signing in on the new phone asks for a code I can no longer generate. I also can’t find my backup code.

My account is **still logged in on my old laptop**. Before I change anything, can that active session help with **two-factor authentication recovery**, or will changing the security settings require the missing authenticator code too?

I’m trying to understand the official recovery options and whether any steps could accidentally end my remaining session. Does access to the registered email address make a difference when the password itself isn’t the problem?
