# Why Does My EV Have Less Regenerative Braking on Cold Mornings?

My electric car normally slows down noticeably when I lift off the accelerator. On cold mornings, that effect feels weaker, even though I have not changed the driving mode. It also seems different when I start with the battery charged to 100%.

Are **cold weather and a full battery** two separate reasons for reduced regenerative braking, or are they connected by the same battery limitation?

I am particularly interested in how this affects everyday driving:

- Does battery preconditioning restore the usual braking feel, or does that depend on the model?
- In cars with blended braking, does the brake pedal compensate differently from one-pedal driving?
- What dashboard indication should I look for before assuming the normal lift-off slowdown is available?

I still use the brake pedal whenever needed; I want to understand why the car’s response changes rather than rely on a particular amount of deceleration.
