# How Does Claude Use Files Added to a Project Across Different Chats?

I’ve started using [Claude Projects](https://answers.mindstick.com/blog/448/best-practices-for-using-projects-skills-and-artifacts-in-claude-cowork) to keep related work together, and I’m unsure how the uploaded files are handled. If I add a style guide or reference document to a project, can Claude draw on it in every new chat in that project, or do I need to mention the file each time?

I’m also curious whether [project instructions](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/116867/how-does-claude-code-remember-project-instructions-across-a-session) and uploaded files behave differently when a conversation gets long. What has your experience been with Claude Projects for keeping answers consistent across separate chats?
