# Why Does My Laptop Charge Over USB-C Only When It’s Awake?

My laptop charges normally through its USB-C port while it’s on, but after I shut it down the battery barely gains anything. I’ve tried the same charger and cable in different outlets, so I’m wondering whether this is a power setting, a port limitation, or expected **USB-C charging behavior** for some laptops.
