# Why Do Perplexity’s Sources Sometimes Seem to Say Something Different From Its Answer?

I’ve noticed that Perplexity can give a confident summary, but when I open one of the citations, the page doesn’t seem to support the exact claim—or only supports part of it. Is this usually a problem with how the answer combines several sources, or could the cited page have changed since it was indexed?

I’m curious how others check these answers, especially when the topic is more specific than a basic fact lookup. Do you verify every citation, or have you found signs that a source is being used out of context?
