# How Should I Balance Static Subjects and Current Affairs for UPSC Prelims?

I’m preparing for UPSC Prelims and keep swinging between revising standard books and trying to catch up on current affairs. When I spend several days on news notes, static topics start to feel rusty; when I focus on books, I worry I’m missing exam-relevant developments.

How do you decide how much weekly time to give each? I’m especially interested in a practical way to connect current affairs with subjects like polity, environment, and science without making endless notes.
