# Why Does My Phone Keep Switching Between 5G and LTE in a Strong-Signal Area?

My phone often drops from 5G to LTE even when the signal bars look strong, then switches back a few minutes later. It happens in places where I can browse and stream without trouble, so I’m not sure whether this is normal network behavior or a setting issue.

Could this be caused by how carriers manage coverage, the phone’s modem, or a particular 5G band? I’m curious whether other people see the same **5G and LTE switching** and whether it affects battery life or data speeds in practice.
