# Why Does My USB-C Cable Charge My Phone but Not Transfer Files?

I have a USB-C cable that charges my phone normally, but when I connect it to my laptop, the phone never appears as a device. I’ve tried different USB ports, so I’m wondering whether this points to a setting or a limitation of the cable itself.
