# How Can I Tell Whether a Sudden Organic Traffic Drop Is a Ranking Problem or a Tracking Issue?

Our organic sessions dropped noticeably this week, but the picture is not consistent across tools. Search Console clicks look fairly steady, while the analytics report shows fewer visits from search. I’m trying to work out whether pages have actually lost visibility or whether something changed in measurement.

When you investigate an **[organic traffic drop](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/84030/how-to-investigate-a-sudden-drop-in-organic-traffic)**, what do you compare first? I’d especially like to hear how people distinguish a real change in search performance from a broken tag, consent-banner change, or reporting delay.
