# What Does “Umpire’s Call” Actually Mean in Cricket DRS?

I understand the basic idea of DRS: a team can ask for a review, and ball-tracking may show where the ball would have gone. But I still find “umpire’s call” confusing, especially when the replay looks close to hitting the stumps.

Does the term mean the technology is uncertain, or does it refer to a specific margin around the impact and wicket zones? I’m also not clear on why an on-field decision can stand in one close review but be overturned in another that looks almost identical.

Could someone explain the rule in plain language, ideally with a simple example of how the original decision affects the outcome?
