# Can a Phone’s OLED Screen Get Burn-In from Using Navigation?

I often keep a navigation app open on my phone for long drives, with the same map controls and status icons sitting in the same places for hours. I’ve heard that OLED displays can retain static images, but I’m not sure whether normal navigation use is enough to cause a lasting mark.

Has anyone noticed **OLED image retention** from maps or other frequently used apps? I’m wondering whether temporary image retention and permanent burn-in are easy to tell apart on a phone.
