# Why Does Audio Disappear When I Cross-Post a Facebook Reel to Instagram?

I can hear the sound on my Facebook Reel, but after I cross-post it to Instagram, the video sometimes appears muted or with a different audio track. It seems to happen more often when the Reel uses a [popular song](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/110823/what-is-adeles-most-popular-song) than when it uses my own recorded audio.

Is this usually a music-licensing restriction between the two platforms, or could it be caused by how the original Reel was edited? I’m trying to work out whether there’s a reliable way to keep the same audio on both accounts.
