# Why Can Blood Pressure Readings Differ Between My Arms?

I checked my blood pressure in both arms a few minutes apart and got noticeably different numbers. I was sitting down and using the same monitor, so I’m not sure whether I did something wrong or whether this kind of variation is common.

How much difference between arms is usually just measurement noise, and when should someone bring it up with a healthcare professional? I’m also curious whether cuff placement or arm position could explain it.
