# Why Can a Website Pass Core Web Vitals in the Lab but Fail in the Field?

Our site looks healthy in Lighthouse tests run from the office, but the field data in Search Console shows poor Core Web Vitals for some page groups. The gap is especially noticeable on mobile.

How much of that difference comes from real visitors’ devices, network conditions, or the way lab tests are configured? I’d like to know how to investigate the mismatch without treating one report as automatically more trustworthy than the other.
