# How Does Perplexity Handle Sources That Disagree With Each Other?

When I ask Perplexity about a topic with conflicting reporting, I sometimes see citations that support different versions of the story. The answer may summarize one view, but it isn’t always clear how the disagreement was weighed.

Does Perplexity favor newer sources, primary documents, or sources that appear to agree with one another? I’m especially interested in how it treats **conflicting sources** and whether there’s a reliable way to inspect the evidence behind a summary before using it in research.
