# How Did the Green Revolution Change Water and Fertilizer Use in India?

The Green Revolution is often discussed in terms of higher crop yields, but I’m curious about the changes it brought to farming inputs as well. Did the spread of high-yielding varieties lead to heavier reliance on irrigation and chemical fertilizers across India, or did the effects vary significantly by region?

I’d especially like to understand how those changes differed between areas that adopted the new methods early and places where farming remained mostly rain-fed.
