# How to prepare for the General Studies paper without burning out?

I’ve been trying to crack the UPSC prelims for the past year, and the General Studies syllabus feels like it keeps expanding every time I turn around. Between polity, history, geography, and [current affairs](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/99610/where-can-i-find-current-affairs-questions-and-quizzes-for-iaspcs), I end up feeling overwhelmed rather than prepared. Has anyone found a sustainable way to cover the GS portions without losing sleep or sanity?

I’m particularly struggling with linking static topics to dynamic current events. For instance, reading about the Panchayati Raj system is one thing, but remembering which recent scheme relates to it during the exam is another. Are there specific note-taking methods or revision cycles that actually work for long-term retention?
