# Why do GA questions in state PSCs differ so much from national-level exams?

I noticed that when I attempt state public service commission papers, the General Awareness section often includes local history, regional geography, and state-specific schemes that never show up in UPSC or banking tests. Is this regional customization intentional, or just a reflection of the administering body’s priorities?

If I’m preparing for multiple state exams, should I treat each GA syllabus as entirely separate, or are there overlapping themes I can study once and apply across the board?
