# Why is General Knowledge often confused with General Awareness in competitive exam circles?

Every time I join a study group or browse forum threads, I see "GK" and "GA" used interchangeably. But are they actually the same thing? From what I understand, GK leans toward static facts—capitals, historical dates, famous personalities—while GA seems more dynamic, covering current affairs, recent government schemes, and contemporary events.

Is this distinction universally accepted, or does it vary by exam board? And more importantly, how should one allocate study time between the two if a paper claims to test both? I'd like to hear how others interpret the boundary.
