# Why Does Gemini Refuse Simple Requests That Work for Other Users?

**Gemini answers "I can't help with that" to boring stuff, like asking it to summarise a meeting note. My friend asks the same thing and gets an answer. Why me?**

Are you on an office or college Google account? That's almost always it. Admins can switch Gemini off or restrict it, and the error it shows you gives no hint that this is the reason. Log in with a personal Gmail and try the same thing. If it works there, it's your organisation's settings, not you.

If it's a personal account, then a few topics are hard-blocked, elections, some health stuff, and the block is wider than it should be. Reword and try again.

Last thing, some features are only available in certain countries or for accounts above a certain age. If you're getting refused on something specific like image generation, that might be why.
