# How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Reddit to Protect Your Account?

Account security is critical for protecting your Reddit profile from unauthorized access and credential stuffing attacks. Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of defense by requiring a time-based one-time password (TOTP) from an authenticator app in addition to your password.

## Steps to Enable 2FA on Reddit

Follow these steps using a desktop browser:

- Log into your account and navigate to **User Settings**.
- Click on the **Safety & Privacy** tab.
- Scroll down to **Two-Factor Authentication** and toggle it on.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password).
- Enter the 6-digit verification code generated by the app to confirm setup.

### Important Security Notes

Make sure to download and safely store your **backup codes** in case you lose access to your primary authenticator device.
