Some historians say [Mughal kings](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/101669/who-were-the-rulers-of-the-mughal-empire-in-india) was very kind to other [religion](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/questions/religion/all). They tell Akbar was very good king, he allow Hindus and Muslims both to pray, he not force anyone to change. He also start one new thing called Din-i-Ilahi, mixing ideas from many religion. They think Mughals made [India](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/336618/top-10-electric-bicycles-in-india-in-2024-to-improve-your-health) more united.

But other [historians](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/83627/how-history-is-connected-to-us-and-what-is-its-aim-concept) do not agree. They say [Jahangir and Aurangzeb](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/87385/the-dark-legacy-of-aurangzeb-a-tale-of-brutality-and-betrayal) was not so kind. Aurangzeb break many temples and also force some [rules](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/43901/blackjack-rules) on Hindus. He make jizya tax again, which Hindus has to pay. So some [people](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2295/more-people-need-to-monitor-this-crucial-metric-for-heart-health) think Mughal was not fair, they only like Islam more.

Some [books](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12965/7-books-students-should-read-in-2018) write that Mughal was practical, not fully kind or fully cruel. They just do what help them to [rule](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/1931/what-is-the-difference-between-a-check-constraint-and-a-rule) big empire. If they need help from Hindus, they become friendly. If they feel danger, they become strict.

So historians keep fighting on this topic. Some call Mughals tolerant, some call them intolerant. Truth is maybe in middle, because some kings like Akbar was open, but some like Aurangzeb was strict. That why [history](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2422/in-testing-on-windows-the-whatsapp-desktop-call-history-tab-was-discovered) have many opinions.\
