Maasir-i-Alamgiri is a Persian book written by Saqi Mustad Khan. It is about the [life and rule of Aurangzeb](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/87385/the-dark-legacy-of-aurangzeb-a-tale-of-brutality-and-betrayal). This book tells us many things about his [character](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/250/html-character-entities) and his policies. It shows Aurangzeb as a very strict and religious Mughal emperor. He followed Islam very seriously and many times he ordered destruction of temples because he thought they went [against](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2526/resolution-against-anti-satellite-tests-adopted-by-un-to-reduce-space-debris) his faith.

The book mentions how he banned music in his court, closed down certain [practices](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/312722/3-ways-digital-marketers-need-to-evolve-post-covid-19) which were common under earlier emperors, and how he imposed Jizya tax on Hindus. At the same time, it also shows his [skills](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/269535/five-trending-tech-skills-in-2020) as a ruler. He expanded the [Mughal empire](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/113593/why-did-the-mughal-empire-rule-india) to its largest size.

He fought wars in Deccan for many years. Maasir-i-Alamgiri writes about these [campaigns](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/1506/campaigns-traffic-sources-in-google-analytics-api-using-asp-dot-net-mvc) in detail. But it also shows the negative side of his long wars. Because of this, Mughal empire became weak after his death. The book clearly praises [Aurangzeb’s Islamic devotion](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/82861/aurangzeb-the-controversial-mughal-king), but for historians today it is important because it confirms that many temples were broken under his rule.

It is not just a story but a record from that time, so [people](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2295/more-people-need-to-monitor-this-crucial-metric-for-heart-health) use it as a main [source](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/840/what-happens-if-the-both-source-and-destination-are-named-same) to study him.\
