When your computer freezes after opening [Chrome or Edge](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2660/microsoft-edge-is-actually-good-everything-you-need-to-know), it can be because of too many reasons. First, these browsers use a lot of [RAM](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/88177/the-future-of-ram-and-storage-in-smartphones). If your computer has low [memory](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/300050/what-causes-sudden-memory-loss), it will freeze. Try closing other apps or adding more RAM. Second, check if there are too many extensions installed in Chrome/Edge. Some extensions slow down the browser. [Disable](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/1528/disable-enable-an-element-in-jquery) or remove them. Third, old browser version may cause bugs.

[Update your browser](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/336686/creating-your-browser-extension-explained-in-10-steps) to the latest version. Viruses or [malware](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12717/malware-ransom-ware-and-spyware-and-its-effects) can also make browsers freeze. Do a full scan with antivirus. Another common reason is corrupted cache or cookies. Clear browsing data and restart.

Also update your graphics [drivers](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/1275/what-are-stubs-and-drivers-used-for-in-white-box-testing) because browsers use [GPU for video and graphics](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/102437/how-does-a-graphics-processing-unit-gpu-impact-gaming-performance). If [driver](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/303683/driver-s-rights-legal-consultation-on-traffic-stops-and-checkpoints-in-ontario) is old, it can freeze. On older PCs, too many tabs open at once also cause freeze.

Try opening only one or two tabs first. If problem still happens, reinstall Chrome/Edge. If not solved even then, it may be your [Windows](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/166/windows-api) system problem. In that case update Windows or reset it. Mostly, clearing cache, disabling extensions, and updating fixes this problem.

Chrome/Edge can consume a lot of RAM and CPU, Italian Brainrot Clicker 2, especially on older machines or if too many extensions are installed.
