The first dinosaur [skeleton](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/986/what-is-skeleton-and-stub-what-is-the-purpose-of-those) was discovered by English geologist and paleontologist William Buckland in 1824. He found a [partial](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/78/partial-class-in-dot-net) skeleton of Megalosaurus near Oxford, England. Buckland described these fossils and published his find, making Megalosaurus the first dinosaur to be scientifically described and accepted.
