# How to deactivate Twitter account on MacBook?

To deactivate your [Twitter](https://www.mindstick.com/news/3036/twitter-is-not-ready-to-pay-google-cloud-bills-says-report) [account](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/33699/how-tech-is-disrupting-the-accounting-world) using a Macbook, follow these steps :

1. Open your [web](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/11228/so-what-exactly-is-a-cms-website) [browser](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/155254/which-is-the-best-internet-browser) and go to the Twitters website.
2. Log in to your Twitter account if you haven't already.
3. Click on your [profile](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/225/profile-in-asp-dot-net) picture in the top right corner to open the [dropdown](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/263/ajax-toolkit-dropdownextender-in-asp-dot-net) menu.
4. Select “ Settings and [privacy](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/303849/how-to-protect-your-personal-information-and-privacy-online) ” from the dropdown menu.
5. In the [left](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/2298/how-to-change-position-left-to-right-of-bootstrap-datepicker) sidebar , click on “ Your Account ”
6. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “ Deactivate your account ”.
7. Read the information provided on the deactivation page, and then click on the “Deactivate”[button](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/63/how-to-add-button-in-datagridview-in-csharp-dot-net) .
8. Follow the prompts to confirm the deactivation of your account, Twitter will [retain](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/10927/objective-c-attributes-of-property-directive) your account data for 30 days. If you log back in during this time , your account will be reactivated. After 30 days , your account will be reactivated .After 30 days , your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted.
