# What if the computer audio isn't working?

## Basic Checks:

- [**Volume**](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/1693/set-master-new-custom-volume-settings-in-windows-phone-8-1)**:** Double-check the overall volume and individual app volumes. Make sure nothing's muted.
- **[Connections](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/87707/baba-siddique-murder-news-his-connections-with-underworld):** Ensure all cables are firmly plugged into the right ports (green for audio output). Disconnect and reconnect for good measure.
- **Output Device****:** Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, select "Playback devices," and [choose the correct](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/97584/how-do-you-choose-the-correct-camera-for-your-application) output (speakers, headphones). Set it as default.

- **Restart:** Sometimes a simple reboot fixes glitches. Give it a go!
- **Driver Updates:** Outdated or faulty audio drivers can be culprits. Update them via Device Manager or your manufacturer's website.
