## Force Quit Programs:

[**Windows**](https://www.mindstick.com/services/windows-development)**:** Use Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Identify unresponsive programs and click "End Task." If Task Manager won't open, hold Ctrl + Alt + Del and choose Task Manager.

**Mac:** Press Command + Option + Esc to open Force Quit Applications. Select the frozen program and click "Force Quit."

**Hard Restart:** If programs won't respond, hold the [power button](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/115348/why-won-t-my-computer-turn-on-despite-pressing-the-power-button) for 10 seconds to force a shutdown. Wait 30 seconds before restarting.

## Safe Mode:

**Windows:** During restart, press F8 repeatedly until Safe Mode options appear. Choose Safe Mode with Networking.

**Mac:** Hold Command + R during restart to enter [Recovery Mode](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50474/what-to-do-before-restoring-your-iphone-x-in-itunes-recovery-mode-dfu-mode). ## Updates & Scans:

**Updates:** Install any pending software and driver updates, including graphics drivers. Outdated versions can cause crashes.

**Scan for Malware:** Run a comprehensive virus and malware scan to eliminate potential threats.

## System Cleanup:
