A frozen cursor can be frustrating! Here's a quick guide to get your mouse back in action:

For [wireless](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/332047/why-is-wireless-technology-important) mice, check the [batteries](https://www.mindstick.com/news/376/aluminum-ion-vs-lithium-ion-batteries) or receiver [connection](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/123/connection-string).

**Connection:** Is it wired or wireless? For wired mice, try a different [USB](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/23141/usb-3-2-standard-and-everything-you-need-to-know) port. For wireless, check [Bluetooth](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/11658/all-you-need-to-know-about-bluetooth-5) connectivity or re-pair the device.

**Surface:** Is your mouse pad dirty or worn? Try a different surface.

- **[Software](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/23272/why-software-localization-is-important-for-your-business) solutions:**

**Restart:** Sometimes a simple reboot can fix glitches.

**Drivers:** Outdated drivers can cause issues. Update your mouse drivers through your [operating system](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/301277/what-is-an-operating-system) or manufacturer's website.

**Software conflicts:** Check for recently installed software that might interfere with your mouse. Try uninstalling any suspects.

- **[Hardware](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/303100/best-pc-hardware-2023) issues:**

**Physical damage:** Look for visible damage to the mouse or cable.

**[Cleaning](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/245944/helpful-information-on-how-to-locate-the-best-cleaning-services):** Dust or debris can block sensors. Gently clean the mouse with compressed air.

## If none of these work:

Consult your mouse manual or manufacturer's support for specific [troubleshooting](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/1617/desktop-troubleshooting) steps.

Consider replacing the mouse if it's old or damaged.
