Yes, ISRO hires astronauts, they have their own spaceflight program. They select and train astronauts for the mission to collaborate in Indias Space Mission.

So there is selection process for this like physical fitness, psychological attributes and technical qualifications. The candidates who selects from this have to undergo to the training sessions which have several fitness sessions which give them preparation for the space missions.
