The number of weeks in a year depends on the calendar used. In the Gregorian calendar, which is the most widely used calendar in the world, there are 52 weeks and 1 day in a non-leap year, and 52 weeks and 2 days in a leap year.

The extra day in a leap year is added to February, which normally has 28 days. In a leap year, February has 29 days.
