The rapid changes in lifestyle; may be from the daily increasing pressure and stress factor at your workplace to choosing to start a family late and making some unhealthy food choices are some of the major instances that is posing a very big challenge to fertility among many couples across the world.

Unlike the other factors like age, late marriage and genetics that cannot be controlled; specialists or experts are of the opinion that, making some alterations in your food habits or consuming the right proportion of diet or maybe avoiding a few others, will definitely help in boosting your fertility.

Remember that no food is “magical”. No food will boost your fertility like a magic pill. Records from KL Fertility Centre show that, *Almost 10 years ago, an associate professor at Harvard School of Public Health wrote a fertility diet and ranked 11th in the world (U.S).

So, if you're trying to conceive, referring to that fertility diet, you will be surprised to know the list of nutrition tips to boost your chances of becoming pregnant.

Add Green Leafy Vegetables and Fruits

When you are unusually struggling to become pregnant, indulging in some plant-based food or fruits, like having green leafy vegetables, beans, nuts, avocados, fruits, and juices in your regular diet can act as a catalyst. They are all rich-sources of healthy fats and are fueled with folic acid, which reduces body inflammation, promotes regular ovulation and later might also help in the healthy development of your foetus, thereby increasing your chances of fertility.

Whole Grains’ must!

Intake of highly processed carbs, like cakes or pastries and some “unreal” fruit juices, almost at a regular interval, is sure to increase the insulin level in your bloodstream. This will hinder your ovulation cycle and will make your chances of pregnancy more difficult.

So, it is always better to add complex carbohydrates in your diet, when you are trying to become pregnant. And whole grains such as oats, brown rice and whole wheat are a must here! They will release the sugar in your blood slowly and evenly, giving you a lot of energy, helping you in the production of healthy eggs and keeping your hormones in balance.

Full Fat Dairy Daily!

Yes, dairy products are definitely a great source of calcium. But, after several research it is found out that daily consumption of at least one portion of full-fat dairy products also helps you in conceiving naturally.

You may not like milk on a daily basis, but yoghurts can definitely top the list of your regular dietary chart. The probiotic microbes in them helps in reducing inflammation, thereby boosting fertility.

Yoghurts not just help you. It boosts the semen quality in your male counterpart too.

Omega3 has to be!

Did you know? A lifelong consumption of a diet-rich omega 3 fatty acids or oily fish like rohu or salmon can prolong your reproductive function into an advanced maternal age, by improving your oocyte (egg) quality.

Avoid foods high in trans fats

If you are used to having fried, processed or baked foods, then say “no” to it now! These products are made out of hydrogenated vegetable oils, which are the main sources of trans fats. They increase the risk of ovulatory infertility.

Avoid caffeine intake!

Your love for coffee can stay at bay, during your time of conception. Why? Caffeine prevents mucous membranes from staying moist affecting the cervical fluid and negatively affecting your fertility.

Remember the dos and don’ts

After all, pregnancy is a wonderful feeling. And adopting the fertility diet may improve your chances. Therefore, remember the dos and don’ts when you are trying for a baby and always go for good quality fresh food, which are rich in vitamins, minerals and nutrients sources.
