The mainstream, top-of-the-line Core i9 9900K and 10900K CPUs are Intel's best multi-tasking chips for high-speed performance. They have eight and ten cores, respectively, and 16 and 20 threads, with clock speeds that easily exceed 5.0GHz – especially in the latter.

  • AMD truly outperforms Intel in the productivity sector at £400 and above. The Ryzen 9 3900X has 12 cores and 24 threads to play with, and the Ryzen 3950X has 16 cores and 32 threads for a few hundred pounds more. Both maintain clock speeds above 4.5GHz while boosting and can do so for extended periods of time if properly cooled.
  • AMD, or Advanced Micro Devices, is a semiconductor, microchip, CPU, motherboard, and other types of computer equipment manufacturer that has been in business for over 40 years. After Intel, they are now the second largest company in this sector.
  • Intel, or the Intel Corporation, was established a year before in 1968. Both companies were founded in Valley, California, and are industry leaders in research and development.
